About Jeff Miller

Jeff has completed undergraduate degrees in Music and Psychology along with a Master's and Ph.D. in Educational Research. He is a third-generation piano teacher with 30 years of teaching experience. His first teaching studio opened at Morgan Music in 1989, and he quickly developed a reputation for being friendly while maintaining high standards for comprehensive and well-balanced music education. He has received awards including the WMTA Award for Teaching Excellence and was voted one of the Best Places to Take Music Lessons in the Chippewa Valley!

Jeff is known for mentoring students. He recognizes that no two students are the same and adapts his teaching style for the best outcomes for each individual student. Students have received awards for submitting their own compositions to Piano Explorer Magazine, the WMTA Young Composer’s Competition, and the NFMC Junior Composers Contest. Most recently, two students advanced to the national level and one was the Honorable Mention. On Wisconsin! 

He hosts an exciting annual recital where students compose and perform songs based on that year’s theme. In 2018, it was Outer Space! In 2019, it was World Music. In 2023, it was At the Library. While no longer promoting a competition-based studio, students have received high ratings for performing in the WMTA District Auditions, NFMC Festival, and the Guild Auditions. He offers numerous incentives to practice such as the 100 Days of Practice Challenge, the Trophy Challenge, the 25-Song Challenge, Memory Cards, and of course….lots of stickers! Some previous students have gone on to earn a degree in music, teach lessons, play in bands, and play in church.
